PP TUNAS shows positive impact on child protection - ANTARA News Bali
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria stated that the enforcement of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 (PP TUNAS) has shown a positive impact on the utilization of dedicated child protection features.
He noted that current monitoring indicates that various digital platforms have rolled out dedicated child protection features, including kids' accounts, parental controls, and age-based access restrictions after the law, which regulates the governance of electronic system implementation for child protection, was implemented.
"We thank all platforms that have complied (with the regulation). Currently, various social media platforms and digital services have provided specific features for children and begun strengthening age-based access restrictions," he remarked in a statement received here on Sunday.
Despite the positive trend, Patria emphasized that the government will still conduct regular evaluations to ensure every electronic system provider (PSE) complies with PP TUNAS provisions and continually improves the quality of online child protection.
He said that these evaluations are crucial to ensuring the regulation optimally cultivates a safe, healthy, and productive digital space for the Indonesian public, particularly the younger generation.
"We hope that continuous evaluations can consistently improve the performance of every platform, ensuring that child protection in the digital space becomes increasingly effective," he stated.
Patria also appreciates PSEs that actively establish creative avenues to disseminate PP TUNAS, such as by organizing family film festivals. He cited the US-based over-the-top (OTT) platform Netflix as one of the PSEs that has actively adopted this method.
He noted that utilizing audiovisual works for such an approach makes it easily embraced by the public, while simultaneously fostering a safe digital content ecosystem for children.
