Destry Damayanti sworn in as Bank Indonesia Governor - ANTARA News Jawa Timur

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Destry Damayanti was officially inaugurated as Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the 2026–2031 term after taking her oath of office before Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sunarto in Jakarta on Wednesday.

On the same occasion, Aida S. Budiman also took the oath of office as Senior Deputy Governor of BI for the 2026–2031 term, and Solikin M. Juhro as Deputy Governor of BI for the same term.

The inauguration was conducted in accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 92/P of 2026 on the Dismissal and Appointment of members of the Board of Governors of Bank Indonesia, dated September 1, 2026.

Previously, the House of Representatives of Indonesia (DPR RI) had approved and confirmed the new appointments of Damayanti, Budiman, and Juhro during the 4th Plenary Session of the First Session Period of the 2026–2027 Parliamentary Year on September 1.

The three were selected following a fit-and-proper test conducted by Commission XI of the DPR RI on August 26 and August 27.

Following Perry Warjiyo's resignation as Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) on July 25, 2026, Destry was appointed Acting Governor of BI.

Subsequently, the Government—via a Presidential Letter submitted to the House of Representatives (DPR RI)—recommended Damayanti as the sole candidate for the permanent governorship.

Regarding the Senior Deputy Governor position vacated by Damayanti, Aida S. Budiman was nominated as the sole candidate for the role, as outlined in the Presidential Letter.

Additionally, two candidates, Solikin M. Juhro and M. Anwar Bashori, were nominated to fill the Deputy Governor position vacated by Aida.

During the fit and proper test, Destry outlined her vision of keeping Bank Indonesia relevant in responding to challenges, credible in maintaining stability, and effective in promoting sustainable economic growth.
